Problems with materials in iTunes U for web
If you have trouble with materials in iTunes U for web, keep the following in mind:
Make sure the materials you add are in the supported media types list.
When adding a material as an iTunes Store link, make sure the material is a supported link:
iTunes U course materials
Podcast episodes
Songs
Movies
TV episodes
Music videos
Audiobooks
ebooks
iOS apps
Contributors cannot add materials to a course from their My Materials Library.
Materials you add to a course as a contributor are not added to your My Materials list.
When creating a course, if you want a specific material hidden from your students until you reach the associated section of your course (for example, an online quiz), add the material to your My Materials Library instead of the course Materials pane. Later, when you reach the section of your course and create the post and assignment, you can attach the relevant material from your My Materials Library, and iTunes U displays it in your student’s course Materials pane. Materials you add to a course Materials pane are immediately visible to your students, but materials you add to your My Materials Library are only visible to you until you attach the material to a specific course.
You cannot specify that an individual material is private. Privacy is only at the course level in iTunes U.
To cancel an upload, click the Upload button , then click for the material upload you want to cancel.
If you click Option- for a material currently being uploaded, iTunes U cancels all uploads. If you click Option- for a material that is waiting to be uploaded (Waiting...), iTunes U cancels all waiting uploads.
If iTunes U encounters a problem uploading a material, the Upload button appears with an error badge.
To view the error information, click , then click next to the material.
Hover the pointer over the error message to view the full text of the message.
To add a material you created using an iPad app, open the material in the app (for example, Pages, Keynote, Numbers), tap , tap Open in Another App, then follow the steps to add the material to iTunes U. You can also access the camera roll and upload a video or photo to iTunes U.
With iTunes U 3.0 and later, students can annotate assignments in PDF format and then turn in the annotated PDF as homework. If a student uses an iPad (3rd generation or later) or an iPad mini 2 or later, the PDF can be annotated and turned in all within iTunes U. But on older devices, the student must send the PDF from iTunes U to a PDF editor. The student can annotate the PDF in the separate app, then return the PDF back to iTunes U on the device and turn in the annotated PDF.
To use iTunes U materials you created before your school or district began using Apple School Manager with Managed Apple IDs, Apple recommends you:
Send a copy of the course to your Managed Apple ID.
When sending a copy of a course, iTunes U does not change anything in your original course but instead creates a snapshot of your original course including all info pages, posts, and course materials. If a student roster exists in the original course, iTunes U does not copy the student roster over to the snapshot version of the course.
Re-upload any materials not associated with a course using your Managed Apple ID.
For materials in your My Materials Library not associated with a course, you must add those materials again using your Managed Apple ID. Materials you add to My Materials Library are available for you to add to any of your courses.
