About Family subscriptions and Family Sharing

To use a Family subscription with other people in your family, set up Family Sharing using a supported device. When you set up Family Sharing, you become the family organizer. If you don't want to be the family organizer, ask someone else to set up Family Sharing.

If you've already set up Family Sharing and joined Apple Music with a Family subscription, you can add new people by inviting them to be a part of your family group.

Join Apple Music

You can subscribe to Apple Music from an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch; a Mac or PC; or an Android device. When you join, you can choose from four different subscription types: Monthly Individual, Annual Individual, Family, or Student.

If you selected an Individual or Student when you first joined, you can also change to a Family subscription.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Open the Music app. If you don’t see an Apple Music screen, tap For You at the bottom of the screen.
  2. If you're joining Apple Music for the first time or previously used a trial, tap the trial offer.
If you currently subscribe to Apple Music, tap Sign In, then change to a Family subscription.
  3. Tap the Family option, then tap Start Trial.
  4. If prompted, sign in with the Apple ID and password that you use with the iTunes Store.
You might be asked to validate your billing info, but you won't be billed the full monthly price until after the trial ends. Add a valid payment method and tap Join.
  5. If prompted, agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. Choose genres and artists that you like. You can also see what your friends are listening to and get notifications when artists release new music.

Family members already set up in Family Sharing will automatically have access to Apple Music. The family organizer can invite people to join Family Sharing. If someone already has Apple Music as an Individual or Student, renewal of that subscription is automatically canceled when they join the Family.
