Arrange your space in Apple Vision Pro

Learn how to create a space in Apple Vision Pro by opening apps, arranging them in space, and scaling them to the perfect size.

Open apps on Apple Vision Pro

  1. Open Home View. If you see Environments View or People View, look at the tab bar and select the Apps View.

  2. Scroll horizontally to see more apps.

  3. Look at an app and tap to open it.

  4. Open Home View again to open another app. Repeat for each app that you want to open.

You can also open apps with Siri.

Move and resize apps to set up your space

As you open apps, you can arrange them all around you to create a custom space.

To move an app in Apple Vision Pro, look at the window bar (the horizontal white bar at the bottom of each app), then pinch and drag the window bar. Move it up and down and side to side, pull it closer to you, or push it farther away.

To resize an app, look at the bottom-left or bottom-right corner of the window, then pinch and drag the curved window bar that appears.

You can choose the default window size for apps and other Apple Vision Pro content. Go to Settings > Display > Appearance, then choose Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large. Windows and controls will appear larger or smaller based on your preference.

Re-center your space if you move

If you move or face another direction after arranging apps, you can re-center your space in front of you by pressing and holding the Digital Crown.

Lock apps in place

With visionOS 26, you can lock an app in place, or anchor it to a vertical surface like a wall. The app remains where you lock it, even if you re-center your space.

  • To lock an app in place, look to the left of the window bar, pinch and hold the close button, then tap Lock in Place.

  • To anchor an app to a surface, pinch and drag the window bar to anchor the app to a nearby vertical surface, then hold it in place for a moment. When an app has anchored to a surface, the window bar is replaced with a Lock icon .

  • To unlock an app, tap at the bottom of the app window, or simply drag it away from its locked position.

You can lock the same app in multiple rooms. For example, if you lock the TV app to a wall in your living room, you can go into your bedroom, open the TV app there, and lock it to a wall in the bedroom. When you walk in either room, the app appears where you locked it.

Not all apps support locking in place.

Close apps

To close an app, look at the dot next to the window bar at the bottom of the app, then tap it when it becomes a close button. Learn how to force quit an app if it won't close.

Reopen apps automatically after you restart

When you take off your Apple Vision Pro, your apps stay where you placed them and your space will appear as you left it when you put Apple Vision Pro back on.

To have your apps reopen in the same arrangement after your Apple Vision Pro restarts:

  1. Go to Settings > General.

  2. Turn on Reopen Apps After Restart.

If you've locked an app in place, it will reappear after your Apple Vision Pro restarts, even if you've turned off Reopen Apps After Restart.

Add widgets to your space

With visionOS 26, you can arrange widgets in your surroundings to show useful information like calendar events and the weather. Widgets stay where you put them, and reappear when you put on Apple Vision Pro.

Use Siri

You can use Siri to open and close apps on Apple Vision Pro:

  • "Siri, open [app name]" opens the requested app in the location where you're looking.

  • "Siri, close [app name]" closes the requested app.

  • "Siri, close this" closes the app you're looking at.

  • "Siri, close everything" closes all your apps at once.
