Removal

  1. Put on the gloves and place the enclosure in the repair tray with the Lightning connector facing the cutout.

  2. Use ESD-safe tweezers to slowly remove the polyester film strip from the mmWave antenna connector cowling.

  3. Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove the three crosshead screws from the mmWave antenna connector cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly. Set aside the screws.

    • Caution: To avoid stripping the screws, ensure that the JCIS bit is locked into the torque driver. Don’t scrape the torque driver against the logic board.

  4. Separate the end of the mmWave antenna flex cable from the connector.

  5. Lift the ends of the 13 flex cables off the connectors on the logic board.

  6. Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove the crosshead screw from the logic board (1). Set aside the screw.

  7. Use a torque driver and the super screw bit to remove the two super screws from the logic board (2, 3). Set aside the screws.

  8. Use the flat end of the black stick to break the adhesive between the mmWave antenna flex cable and the camera well.

  9. Remove the camera. Then continue to step 10.

  10. Gently lift the mmWave antenna and the logic board up and out of the enclosure.

    • Important: Ensure that the mmWave antenna stays attached to the logic board.
