Recover from a stalled upgrade when updating Profile Manager

If Server.app is unresponsive while upgrading to OS X Server (Yosemite) you might need to remove older temporary files.

If Server.app stops during the step where it's upgrading Profile Manager, you can use these steps to correct this issue.

  1. Restart your server. If Server.app doesn't quit normally, use Force Quit to close it.

  2. After your server has started up, switch to the Finder and choose Go > Go To Folder.

  3. Enter this path in the window that appears, then click Go:

    /Library/Server/ProfileManager/Config/ServiceData/Data/

  4. Locate the folder named "tmp" in the Data folder and drag it to the Trash.

  5. Open Server.app and allow it to finish upgrading your server.
