Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
A battery should be replaced only by individual technicians with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices. Improper battery replacement, improper handling of parts, or failure to follow the provided instructions could result in fire, injury, data loss, or damage to the device, parts, or other property.
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
Heat-resistant gloves
Nylon probe (black stick)
Safety glasses with side shields
Sand
Sand container
Torx Plus 4IP 25 mm bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Important
If you replace this part, it's recommended to run Repair Assistant in order to finish the repair. Repair Assistant will be available on the device after you’ve completed all reassembly steps.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Important
Remove the display. Then continue to step 1.
Use the adjustable torque driver and Torx Plus 4IP bit to remove the 4IP screws in the order shown.
Models with eSIM: Remove the fourteen 4IP screws.
Models with a physical SIM: Remove the thirteen 4IP screws.
Lift the battery from the enclosure.
Reassembly

Note: Some screws may come in a bag labeled with a 452 part number. They will be included with the screw kits, but can be ordered separately using the equivalent 923 part number.

Warning
Visually inspect the enclosure for loose or extra screws and small parts that may have attached to magnetized areas, as these can damage the battery and cause safety issues.

Hold the top right and lower left corners of the battery as you position it in the enclosure.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 34 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to install 11 new 4IP screws into the battery plate in the order shown.
Important: Models with a physical SIM have only 10 screws. Install screws 1 through 10 in the order shown.

Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 19 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to install three new 4IP screws into the battery plate in the order shown.

Reinstall the following part to complete reassembly:
Warning
Gently shake the iPhone. If the battery feels loose, remove the display and the battery. Then complete the battery reassembly steps with another replacement battery.
Important
A new battery is not charged. After you’ve completed all removal and reassembly steps, charge the device for a few minutes.
