Sign out of your Apple Account and iCloud on your devices
If you want to stop using iCloud and other Apple services on one of your devices, learn how to sign out and what happens when you sign out.
Before you sign out
When you sign out of Apple Account on your device, you're automatically signed out of iCloud, the App Store and other Apple media services, iMessage, and FaceTime. Any information stored in iCloud remains available in iCloud. Your iCloud data will be removed from your device unless you choose to keep a copy of that data when prompted. To help prevent data loss:
Make sure that you have an up-to-date iCloud backup.
If you recently made changes to content synced with iCloud, wait before signing out, or check iCloud.com or another device to make sure that your changes have synced.
Not everything is backed up in iCloud — make sure you have access to anything not synced to iCloud.
Apple recommends, in addition to an iCloud backup, that you also archive or make copies of the information that you store in iCloud.
If you don’t know your Apple Account password, change your password before you sign out of a trusted device.
Sign out on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro
Open the Settings app, then tap [your name].
Scroll down to the bottom. Tap Sign Out.
Choose Erase this [Device] or Sign Out But Don't Erase.
Follow the onscreen prompts to learn what information will remain on your device or be erased.
Enter the passcode for that device or enter your Apple Account password. Learn what to do if you forgot your Apple Account password.
If you chose Sign Out But Don't Erase, tap Confirm and Sign Out. If you chose Erase this [Device], tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out again to confirm.

What happens when you sign out of iCloud on your device
You can sign out of your Apple Account to stop using iCloud and its related services on your device. Before signing out, make sure that you're comfortable having these services turned off. If you only want to stop using some iCloud features, you can change your iCloud settings instead of signing out of iCloud.
You can also choose to sign out, but keep your information on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro.
