Apple Limited Warranty coverage
Our Limited Warranty covers your product and Apple-branded accessories against defects for one year from the date you bought them. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.
Our warranty doesn't cover damage caused by accidents or unauthorized modifications. See the warranty for complete details. You can check your warranty status online and update your proof-of-purchase information if there's an error in our records.
Can I buy additional coverage for my Mac desktop?
AppleCare Protection Plan gives you expert telephone support and additional hardware service options up to three years from the original purchase date of your Mac. You can buy the AppleCare Protection Plan up to 12 months from the day you bought your Mac desktop.
You may also have consumer law rights. Apple Limited Warranty and AppleCare Protection Plan benefits are in addition to your rights under consumer law.
Repairs are considered out of warranty when:
- Your Mac is over one year old
- Your Mac has an issue that’s not covered under warranty, like accidental damage or damage caused by unauthorized modifications
If your Mac needs a repair that isn't covered by warranty, we might be able to fix it for an out-of-warranty fee. The repair costs will depend on the type of service and if your issue is covered under an AppleCare Protection Plan. You might also have consumer law rights in addition to the Apple warranty.
The Apple-branded accessories that come in the box with your Mac are covered by our warranty and consumer law. If you bought an AppleCare Protection Plan for your Mac, it also covers the accessories that came with your product.
For service details, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Battery service for your accessories
Some Mac desktops include accessories with a built-in rechargeable battery. If your accessory’s battery has a manufacturing defect and it's covered by the Apple Limited Warranty, AppleCare Protection Plan, or consumer law, we'll service it at no additional cost. Our warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use.
We might need to test your accessory to find the cause of your battery issue. If your accessory isn't covered by warranty, we can service or replace it for a fee.
You get an additional benefit if you have an AppleCare Protection Plan for your Mac desktop. If your accessory’s battery can hold only 80 percent or less of its original capacity and it's covered by your AppleCare plan, we'll service your accessory at no charge.
