Check compatibility

You’ll only see updates that are compatible with your current software version. If you haven’t downloaded the most current release, you won’t see the option to install the latest release.

Download iOS 18

When you download the latest version of iOS, your data and settings will remain unchanged.

Update your iPhone automatically

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap General.

3. Tap Software Update.

4. Tap Automatic Updates.

5. Turn on iOS Updates below Automatically Install and Automatically Download.

When an update is available, your iPhone will download and install the update while charging and connected to Wi-Fi. You will be notified before your iPhone installs the update.

To turn off automatic updates:

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap General.

3. Tap Software Update.

4. Tap Automatic Updates.

Update your iPhone manually

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap General.

3. Tap Software Update.

The screen will display the currently installed version of iOS and whether an update is available.
