Select and buy content in Apple School Manager
The Apps and Books feature provides a streamlined purchasing process. You can buy apps and books from the App Store and Apple Books. You can also buy custom apps tailored to your organisation’s specific needs from developers you work with directly.
Enable custom apps
In Apple School Manager , sign in with an account that has the role of Administrator or Site Manager.
Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, click Enrolment Information below Organisation Settings and then click Enable in the Custom Apps row.
You’ll see any previous purchases if you migrated from Apple Deployment Programs (ADP) with an account that had already purchased any custom apps and also migrated your location to Apps and Books. If you didn’t migrate from Apple Deployment Programs, proceed to step 3.
Give your Organisation ID to the app developer so they can add your organisation to their approved list.
To locate your Organisation ID, go to Settings and then click Device Management Settings below Organisation Settings.
You can now purchase any additional custom apps from the Custom Apps section. Custom apps are deployed using managed licences and have the same management options as App Store apps.
Search for an app or book
In Apple School Manager , sign in with an account that has privileges to buy content.
To view and edit who can buy content, see Role privileges.
Select the app or book in the search results list that you want to buy.
Select the location where the app or book licences will be initially assigned.
Enter the number of licences and, if necessary, change the payment method. Click Buy.
The time frame for processing app licences depends on how many licences you purchase:
5,000 licences and fewer are processed immediately.
5,001 to 19,999 licences are processed after 1:00 pm US Pacific Standard Time daily.
20,000 licences or more are processed after 4:00 pm US Pacific Standard Time daily.
In Apple School Manager , sign in with an account that has privileges to reassign apps.
To view and edit who can reassign apps, see Role privileges.
Select the location that has the app you want to reassign and then click Transfer.
Select the quantity and where you want to transfer the licence and then click Transfer.
Note: Books obtained from the Books app, once assigned, become the property of the Managed Apple ID and cannot be reassigned.
