Here's what everyone needs
- An iPhone or iPad updated to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS
- A music streaming service app that supports SharePlay installed on an iPhone or iPad
Some music streaming services require a subscription to play music.
Start a SharePlay music session in a FaceTime call
- Start a FaceTime call.
- Swipe up from the bottom edge of the FaceTime call.
- Open a music streaming app that supports SharePlay.
- Play a song or album. If prompted, tap SharePlay.
- To return to the FaceTime call, tap the picture in picture tile.
Playback controls are shared by everyone, so anyone can play, pause, rewind or fast forward.
Start a SharePlay music session in a music app
You can also start a SharePlay music session from supported music apps.
- Open your music app.
- Find a song, album or playlist that you want to share. Tap the Menu button
or the Share button
. - Tap SharePlay
, then enter the contacts that you want to call. - Tap FaceTime to start FaceTime video. Or tap the Audio button
to start FaceTime audio. - Start the music.
Join a SharePlay music session in a FaceTime call
- In a FaceTime call, tap Open next to Join SharePlay.

- When the music streaming app opens, tap Join SharePlay.
- To return to the FaceTime call, tap the picture in picture tile.
End SharePlay
- At the top of the FaceTime call, tap SharePlay
. - Tap End SharePlay.
- Tap End for Everyone or End Only for Me.
