You can use Apple Pay in stores, in apps, on the web,1 for public transport in some countries and regions, and in Message Apple.2, 3

In China mainland, use Apple Pay wherever you see one of these symbols.

In Japan, use Apple Pay wherever you see the EMV Contactless symbol. If you have one of the logos below, you can also pay with Apple Pay. Make sure you tell the staff which card you want to pay with at the checkout.

In the United States, you can use Apple Cash to send and receive money with friends and family.5 And you can make payments to participating businesses in Message Apple on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple Vision Pro.

Online and in apps

Use Apple Pay wherever you see the Apple Pay button, Apple Pay listed as a payment method or wherever you see an Apple Pay symbol.

  1. Use on compatible third-party web browsers requires an iPhone or iPad with iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. iPhone and iPad users can use Apple Pay on such third-party web browsers by scanning a code with their iPhone or iPad. Compatible browsers require WebSocket support. Apple Pay on third-party web browsers is available with participating merchants and is not available in all markets.

  2. In addition to accepting Apple Pay, a merchant must accept your card’s payment network. For in-store purchases, the merchant’s payment devices must have NFC Contactless enabled.

  3. In China mainland, you can only use Apple Pay on the web in Safari on compatible iPhone and iPad models that are running iOS 11.2 or later. In China mainland, using Apple Pay with a third-party browser is not available.

  4. Some stores might have this symbol on their card readers and point of sale terminals, but they might not be currently set up to accept contactless payments, including Apple Pay. If you can't use Apple Pay at a store that is displaying the contactless payment symbol, let us know.
