Get help with Wallet on your iPhone or iPod touch

If your passes don't update or sync on your iPhone or iPod touch, or if you need help with alerts, follow these steps.

If your passes don't update

A pass hasn’t updated if it shows you outdated information, like an old balance on a gift card. To update your pass, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that you have an Internet connection.
  2. Pull down to refresh and update the pass.
  3. Tap   on the pass and turn on Automatic Updates. If the pass doesn't update, force Wallet to close and then open it again.

If you still need help, contact the company or vendor that provided the pass.

If passes don’t sync on your devices

Wallet can use iCloud to keep your passes up to date on all of your devices. If you use iCloud, this feature is on by default. If passes aren't showing up on your other devices, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > iCloud.
  2. Turn on iCloud Drive and Wallet.
  3. Make sure that you have an Internet connection. If you want to use Wallet with cellular data, go to Settings > Cellular and scroll down. For Wallet, make sure that you've turned on Use Cellular Data For.

If you still don’t see passes on your other devices, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > iCloud and turn off Wallet.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Tap Settings > iCloud and turn on Wallet.

You should see all your passes on your iPhone, but some passes might not appear on your Apple Watch. Apple Watch isn't compatible with all barcodes.

If you need to change your Wallet alerts

With Location Services, your passes can send alerts, like flight changes or nearby sales, based on location and time. Location Services works best when you turn on Wi-Fi.

If a pass appears too frequently on your Lock screen, you can turn off its notifications. This can be useful when you work or live near a location that uses a pass in your Wallet.

To turn off notifications for a specific pass:

Go to the pass and tap  .

Then turn off Suggest on Lock Screen.

If passes don’t show up on the Lock screen or in notifications

Some passes use information based on location and time to show up on your Lock screen automatically. For example, a coupon for coffee might appear when you drive near a coffee shop.

If you want a pass to appear on your Lock screen when it’s time to use that pass, follow these steps:

  1. If there's an   on the pass, tap it. Then make sure that Suggest on Lock Screen is on.
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Turn on Location Services.
  3. Tap Wallet, then tap While Using the App.
