How to download iPadOS 27
Learn how to download iPadOS 27.
Before you update, back up your device to keep a copy of your important information.
Check compatibility
You'll see only updates compatible with your iPad. If your iPad is running an earlier version, install that update first.
iPadOS 27 is compatible with iPad models:
iPad Pro (4th generation and later, M1 and later)
iPad Air (4th generation and later, M2 and later)
iPad (9th generation and later, A16)
iPad mini (6th generation, A17 Pro)

Turn on automatic updates
You can set up your iPad to install updates automatically:
Open Settings.
Tap General.
Tap Software Update.
Tap Automatic Updates.
Choose Automatically Install or Automatically Download.
Automatically Install: When an update is available, your iPad downloads and installs the update overnight while charging and connected to Wi-Fi. Your iPad notifies you before it installs the update.
Automatically Download: Your iPad downloads updates over Wi-Fi while it's charging and locked. You can install them at your convenience. To see this option, first turn off Automatically Install.
Update iPad manually
At any time, you can check for and install software updates.
Open Settings.
Tap General.
Tap Software Update.
If an update is available, tap Download and Install.
Follow the onscreen instructions.
Install the software update
If an update is already downloaded but not installed:
Open Settings.
Tap Update to iPadOS 27.
Tap Update Now or Update Tonight.
Follow the onscreen instructions.
View update information
To see the current version of iPadOS installed on your device (such as iPadOS 27):
Open Settings.
Tap General.
Tap About.
