If iTunes detects incompatible Bluetooth software on your computer
Some older Bluetooth software isn't compatible with iTunes on Windows.
If you have older Bluetooth software, you may see an "iTunes has detected incompatible Bluetooth software on your computer and may not run correctly" alert message. If you don't remove the conflicting software, iTunes won't open or run correctly.
To check for and remove the conflicting Bluetooth software, follow these steps:
Download Autoruns for Windows from Microsoft.
Find
Autoruns.zip
on your computer and open the compressed folder.After reviewing the contents and the licence, drag
Autoruns.exe
to your desktop.Open
Autoruns.exe
.Click the Logon tab.
From the Options menu, select Hide Microsoft Entries.
In the Image Path column, look for
bttray.exe
.If
bttray.exe
software exists, contact the manufacturer of your Bluetooth accessory to see if the software is necessary for your computer. If not, get assistance with removing it.If
bttray.exe
is necessary, from the same path asbttray.exe
, locateBtITunesPlugin.exe
and rename it toOld_BtITunesPlugin.exe
.
