Search for music in Music on Mac
Using Search in Music, you can quickly find music from your favorite categories, view your recent search history, and search Apple Music, your library, or the iTunes Store.
Note: Even if you don’t subscribe to Apple Music, you can search for music, listen to or watch previews of music and videos, and listen to the Apple Music 1 radio station for free.
When you have a large number of songs, albums, or playlists in your music library, you can filter it to find the music you’re looking for quickly.
Search Apple Music, your library, or the iTunes Store
In the Music app
on your Mac, click the search field in the top-left corner.Do one of the following:
Choose a recent search: Choose something you recently searched for, such as a song, artist, or album.
Choose from categories: Select a genre, mood, or activity, such as Dance or Fitness.
Search Apple Music: Enter what you’re searching for (such as a song title or lyric), click Apple Music on the right, then select a suggestion or press Return.
Search your library: Enter what you’re searching for (such as an artist or album name), click Your Library on the right, then select a suggestion or press Return.
Search the iTunes Store: Enter what you’re searching for (such as an artist or album name), click iTunes Store on the right, then select a suggestion or press Return.
If you don’t see iTunes Store, choose Music > Settings, click General, make sure iTunes Store is selected, then click OK.
Your search results appear in the main Music window.
To start a new search, delete the text from the search field or click the Delete button 
in the search field.
Filter music
Filter the music in your library to show only the songs you want to see. For example, type “love” in the filter to see results where “love” is in the title, artist, or album name.
In the Music app
on your Mac, click any item below Library or any playlist in the sidebar.Click the Show Filter Field button
in the top-right corner, then enter the criteria you want to match.As you enter the criteria, items matching the criteria remain. To show the full list of songs again, click the Cancel button
.
Note: The filter remains active until you cancel it, even if you choose another item below Library (such as switching from Songs to Albums) or use the column browser.
