Apple Limited Warranty coverage

Our Limited Warranty covers your product and Apple-branded accessories against defects for one year from the date you bought them. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.

Our warranty doesn't cover damage caused by accidents or unauthorized modifications. See the warranty for complete details. You can check your warranty status online and update your proof-of-purchase information if there's an error in our records.

Can I buy additional coverage for my Apple TV?

AppleCare Protection Plan gives you expert telephone support and additional hardware coverage for up to two years from the day you bought your Apple TV. You can buy the AppleCare Protection Plan within one year of the original date that you bought your Apple TV.

You may also have consumer law rights. Apple Limited Warranty and AppleCare Protection Plan benefits are in addition to your rights under consumer law.

Out-of-warranty service

Repairs are considered out of warranty when:

  • Your Apple TV is over one year old
  • Your Apple TV has an issue that’s not covered under warranty or consumer law, like accidental damage or unauthorized modifications

We charge for out-of-warranty service.  If we find an issue with your Apple TV, we might be able to fix it or replace it with an Apple TV that’s new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability. Contact your service representative for details.

Battery service for your remote

Apple TV 4K and Apple TV (4th generation) include a remote with a rechargeable battery. If your battery has a manufacturing defect and it's covered by the Apple Limited Warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan, we'll service it at no additional cost. Our warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use. 

We might need to test your accessory to find the cause of your battery issue. If your Apple TV Remote isn't covered, we can service or replace it for a fee.

You get an additional benefit if you have an AppleCare Protection Plan. If your battery can hold less than 80 percent of its original capacity and it's covered by your AppleCare plan, we'll service your accessory at no charge.

Get ready for Apple TV service

  • Make sure you know your Apple ID and password, and your Apple TV serial number.
  • Keep your cables and other accessories when you get service for your Apple TV.

After service

When you get your Apple TV back from service, sign into the App Store with your Apple ID. If we reset or replaced your Apple TV during service, you’ll need to download your apps again.

We guarantee our service, including replacement parts, for 90 days or the remaining term of your Apple warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan coverage, whichever is longer. We offer this coverage whenever you get service from us or from an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
