Extend your AppleCare+ coverage

If you paid upfront for 24 or 36 months of coverage, you can continue coverage on a monthly basis after the 24 or 36 months is over.

This article applies only to the United States, Australia, Canada, and Japan.

In the United States, Australia, Canada, and Japan, when you purchase AppleCare+ coverage for your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, you can choose to pay monthly or pay upfront for 24 months of coverage. (For Apple Watch Edition and Hermes, you can pay upfront for 36 months.) If you paid upfront, you can go to mysupport.apple.com to continue coverage* on a monthly basis after the 24 or 36 months is over.

Monthly plans automatically renew until canceled.

* If you choose to continue your coverage using mysupport.apple.com, your coverage will be subject to the then-current monthly AppleCare+ Terms and Conditions.

Does coverage continue beyond 24 or 36 months if I signed up to pay monthly?

Yes, if you signed up to pay monthly, plan coverage may continue beyond 24 months, on a monthly basis, until canceled.

When my coverage expires, can I pay upfront for an additional 24 or 36 months?

No, after the 24 or 36 month period ends, plans can be continued only on a monthly basis.

Can I switch to a monthly plan?

If you paid upfront, you can switch to a monthly plan when the 24 or 36 month period is over.

At this time, if you signed up to pay monthly, you can't switch to a plan that is paid upfront.

How do I check to see when my coverage will end?

There are two ways to check when your coverage expires. 

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > General > About, then tap the name of your AppleCare plan.
  • Go to mysupport.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. Then tap or click your device.

When my 24 or 36 months of coverage ends, how do I continue coverage on a monthly basis?

To continue your coverage, visit mysupport.apple.com. In the United States, Canada, and Australia, you can continue your coverage within 60 days of the end date of your original coverage. In Japan, you can continue your coverage within 30 days of the end date of your original coverage.

Will I be notified that the coverage I paid for upfront is about to expire?

You can find the expiration date online or in Settings. You can also find the expiration date in the Proof of Coverage message that is sent to you when you purchase the AppleCare+ plan. Right now, unless local law provides otherwise, no additional notifications are sent.

How can I change, cancel, or view details for my monthly AppleCare+ plan?

About AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss plans

AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss is available only for iPhone and only in the United States and Japan. See the AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss Coverage Documents for additional terms and restrictions. For customers in New York state, if you pay monthly for AppleCare+ with Theft & Loss coverage, your plan is a 24-month installment plan, which may renew upon prior notice to you.
