If you can't edit your payment information for the App Store or iTunes Store
On June 30, 2018, Apple implemented changes to continue to ensure that your financial data is protected when you make purchases on the App Store or iTunes Store. As a result of the changes, you can no longer change your Apple ID payment information from devices that use the following versions of Apple software:
- iOS 4.3.5 or earlier
- macOS Mountain Lion 10.8.5 or earlier
- Apple TV Software 6.2.1 or earlier
If you're using one of these versions on your device and need to change your payment method, here's what to do:
- Update your device to the latest version of the software.
- Edit your payment information.
Or edit your payment information on a different device that uses more recent software.
If you can't access the iTunes Store on your device
On May 25, 2018, Apple implemented changes that prevent some devices that use older software from using the iTunes Store.
Do you use Windows XP or Vista on your PC?
Your version of Windows is no longer supported by Microsoft, and you can't use the latest version of iTunes or access the iTunes Store. You can continue to use your early version of iTunes on your Windows PC without support from Apple. However, you can't make new purchases from the iTunes Store or redownload previous purchases on that computer.
To make purchases from the iTunes Store and redownload previous purchases, update to Windows 7 or later and download the latest version of iTunes.
Is your hardware product out of date?
If you have an obsolete product like Apple TV (1st generation) or Apple TV (2nd generation), you might not be able to use the iTunes Store. Obsolete Apple products won't be updated. Check to see if your device is listed as obsolete.
