MacBook Air (15-inch, M5) Top Case with Keyboard
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)
Torx Plus 2IP 44 mm half-moon bit
Note: A replacement top case with keyboard includes the following additional parts and tools:
2IP set screw
Audio/sensor connector cowling tape
Battery adhesive
Gap offset kit
I/O connector cowling tape
Touch ID alignment kit
Trackpad shims (oval)
Trackpad shims (round)
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
There are no additional removal steps.
Reassembly
A replacement top case with keyboard includes the following preinstalled parts:
Audio/sensor flex cable
Keyboard flex cable
Microphone and microphone flex cable
Keyboard backlight flex cable
Touch ID board connector cowling
Use the blue torque driver and 2IP bit to partially install the new 2IP set screw (923-12569) with one-half clockwise rotation into the replacement top case with keyboard.
