OS X Server: Disable slapd fullsync mode to decrease import time for Open Directory

In OS X Server, it may take a long time to import large datasets into Open Directory. Disabling slapd fullsync mode can decrease the import time.

To disable slapd fullsync mode for the import:

  1. In Terminal, execute the following command to disable slapd fullsync mode:

    • slapconfig -setfullsyncmode no

  2. Using either Workgroup Manager or the dsimport tool, import your records into Open Directory.

  3. In Terminal, re-enable fullsync mode with the following command:

    • slapconfig -setfullsyncmode yes

Note: You should not leave fullsync mode disabled after the initial data import.
