MIDI Studio window
If you use MIDI devices or a MIDI interface connected to your Mac, you can use the MIDI Studio window of Audio MIDI Setup to describe the configuration of your MIDI devices. To open the MIDI Studio window, choose Window > Show MIDI Studio.
Other apps that work with MIDI, such as sequencers, can use this configuration information to control your MIDI devices.
MIDI icons | Available MIDI devices appear as icons in the MIDI Studio window. | ||||||||||
Icon size | Drag the slider to change the size of the icons in the MIDI Studio window. | ||||||||||
Configuration | To create a new MIDI configuration, choose New Configuration from the pop-up menu. To edit an existing configuration, choose Edit Configurations. | ||||||||||
Add Device | Click to add a device to a configuration. | ||||||||||
Remove Device | Click to remove a device from a configuration. | ||||||||||
Show Info | Click to describe a device’s configuration. You can give the device a name, change its icon, and select other settings. | ||||||||||
Rescan MIDI | Click to look for a device if the device is connected and turned on but its icon isn’t in the MIDI Studio window. | ||||||||||
Test Setup | Click to send MIDI test information to and from your MIDI device. To test a MIDI interface’s MIDI Out port, click the down arrow on the device icon in the configuration pane. This highlights the output port icon and sends a MIDI signal to your device. To test a MIDI interface’s MIDI In port, play a note on a controller (such as a keyboard) that’s attached to your interface. The MIDI In port icon (up arrow) is highlighted as it receives the signal. | ||||||||||
Configure Speakers | Click to set up surround (multichannel) speaker configurations. Choose the type of configuration you want to use. |
