The Home button on your iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus is unlike the Home button on other iOS devices. Instead of moving inward when you press it, the Home button detects the presence and pressure of your finger. When you press the Home button, you feel a slight click. You can choose between three clicks to provide different levels of feedback when you click.
Choose a click
To change the click feedback when you press the Home button, go to Settings > General > Home Button and select 1, 2, or 3. Click 1 features the lightest click and 3 features the maximum click.
You might notice the click more when you hold your device than when your device sits on a surface, like a table.
If the Home button doesn't respond
If the Home button doesn't respond when you press it, follow these steps:
- Make sure that your iPhone is on.
- Make sure that your hands are clean and dry.
- Remove any case or protective film that covers the Home button.
Your iPhone uses capacitive sensing technology on both the Multi-Touch display and the Home button. You should be able to use the Home button with gloves that work with the display.
