Add split stereo audio files to Logic Pro for Mac projects

When you add a split stereo audio file to a Logic Pro project, Logic Pro automatically converts the file to an interleaved stereo file. If you rename the file a certain way before adding it, Logic Pro converts it to a dual mono file.

To add a split stereo file to your project and convert it to an interleaved stereo file, just drag either the left (.L) or right (.R) file from the Finder into the Logic Pro main window. Logic Pro adds and converts both left and right files.

You can also add a split stereo file from the Project Audio window:

1. Open the Project Audio window by choosing Window > Open Project Audio. Or, click the Browsers button in the control bar, then click Project.
2. Choose Add Audio File from the Audio File pop-up menu.
3. From the file dialog that opens, select either the left (.L) or right (.R) file.
4. Click Add, then click Done. Logic Pro adds and converts both left and right files.

Logic Pro doesn't automatically convert split stereo SDII files to interleaved stereo when adding them to a project. After adding the SDII files to your project, choose Copy/Convert File(s) from the Audio pop-up menu in the Project Audio window. You can then convert them an interleaved AIFF, WAV, or CAF file.

To add a split stereo file to a project and convert it to a dual mono file:

1. Before adding the split stereo file to a project, give each left and right file a distinct name before the .L and .R in each filename.
   For example, if two files in a split stereo audio file are named "Split.L.aif" and "Split.R.aif," rename each file to "Split1.R.aif" and "Split2.L.aif.
2. Add each renamed file to your project individually. Logic Pro adds each file, and converts it to a mono audio file.
