Mac Studio (M5 Max or M5 Ultra) Antenna 2

Before You Begin

Warning

Read Mac Electrical Safety and follow workspace handling guidelines before you begin.

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • Antenna tool

  • Torx Plus 3IP 25 mm bit

  • Torx Plus 5IP 50 mm bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal

Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

  1. Use the adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to remove two 3IP screws (923-12499) from the antenna connector cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

  2. Use the antenna tool to lift the end of the antenna 2 coaxial cable off the connector.

  3. Use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove two 5IP screws (923-12507) from antenna 2.

  4. Lift antenna 2 out of the housing.

Reassembly

  1. Position antenna 2 in the housing.

  2. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 34 Ncm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to reinstall two 5IP screws (923-12507) into antenna 2.

  3. Use the blunt end of the antenna tool to press the end of the antenna 2 coaxial cable to the connector.

  4. Position the antenna connector cowling over the ends of the antenna coaxial cables. Set the torque value on the adjustable torque driver to 15 Ncm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall two 3IP screws (923-12499) into the cowling.
