Mac mini (2024) Wi-Fi Antennas

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • Antenna tool

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)

  • Torx Plus 3IP 25 mm bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Note: Some images in this procedure show the battery removed, but you can remove the Wi-Fi antennas with the battery installed.

Removal

  1. Use the antenna tool to lift the ends of the three antenna coaxial cables off the connectors.

  2. Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-12074) from one Wi-Fi antenna.

  3. Turn over the antenna plate so the Wi-Fi antennas are facing up.

  4. Slightly bend the antenna plate to create a gap between the antenna plate and the Wi-Fi antenna from which you removed the screws. Then gently insert the flat end of the black stick into the gap and lift the Wi-Fi antenna to release the adhesive between the Wi-Fi antenna and the antenna plate.

    • Caution: Ensure that you don't damage the antenna plate as you bend it slightly.

  5. Route the antenna coaxial cable on the Wi-Fi antenna through the hole in the antenna plate and remove the Wi-Fi antenna.

  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 to remove the other two Wi-Fi antennas. Then continue to step 7.

  7. Use the flat end of the black stick to remove any residual adhesive on the antenna plate.

Reassembly

  1. If you're installing replacement Wi-Fi antennas, use ESD-safe tweezers to remove the adhesive release liner from the back of one of the replacement Wi-Fi antennas. If you're installing the existing Wi-Fi antennas, continue to step 2.

  2. Route the antenna coaxial cable on the Wi-Fi antenna through the hole in the antenna plate. Then position the Wi-Fi antenna on the antenna plate using the alignment pins.

  3. Apply even pressure along the entire length of the Wi-Fi antenna for 10 seconds.

  4. Turn over the antenna plate so the antenna connector board is facing up.

  5. Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall the two 3IP screws (923-12074) into the Wi-Fi antenna.

  6. Repeat reassembly steps 1 through 5 to install the other two Wi-Fi antennas.

  7. Use the blunt end of the antenna tool to press the ends of the three antenna coaxial cables to the connectors on the antenna connector board.
