Problems with material feeds in iTunes U for web
If you have trouble adding and subscribing to RSS feeds or Atom feeds in iTunes U for web, keep the following in mind:
If iTunes U does not initially recognize a link as an RSS feed or Atom feed, try again.
iTunes U only adds audio, video, PDF, and EPUB file materials. iTunes U ignores all other material files included in a feed.
You can subscribe to a maximum of 5 feeds for each course. To add more feeds, you can remove existing feeds from the course (iTunes U does not remove the previously existing materials) and then add the new feeds. iTunes U does not support Apple-hosted feeds.
If you enter a link and edit the metadata information (for example, the author, title, and description), then decide to add and subscribe to the link as a feed, iTunes U overwrites your edits with the metadata information from the feed itself.
If you remove a material that was added automatically from a feed, iTunes U does not automatically re-add the material when refreshing the feed.
If you remove a feed from your course, iTunes U removes the feed and stops adding new materials from the feed. Previously added materials are not affected. If you add the feed again, iTunes U adds only missing materials. Any existing materials from My Materials Library and any edits you made in iTunes U to the previous materials’ metadata remain.
After adding and subscribing to a feed, if materials are missing from your course Materials pane, iTunes U might not be able to reach the material or there might be a problem with the file format. To narrow down the problem, try accessing the material directly using your browser.
You cannot add a feed to a course if you are over your 20 GB available storage space (unaffiliated instructors only). If you add the same feed to more than one course, iTunes U creates duplicate materials in My Materials Library and counts the duplicate materials towards your 20 GB available storage space.
You cannot add a feed to your My Materials Library or as an attachment to an assignment. If you enter a feed link, iTunes U displays the equivalent web URL link in the preview pop-up pane. Click Add to add the feed as a web link instead. To add an RSS feed or Atom feed, use the course Materials pane.
