Locate your serial number, model identifier, and part number
You can find the serial number and other identifiers for your Mac mini in macOS, on the computer's surface, and on its packaging.
In the About This Mac window
With most versions of macOS, you can find your computer's serial number and model information in the About This Mac window.
Choose Apple () menu > About This Mac. The window that appears lists your computer's model name—for example, Mac mini (Late 2014)—and serial number. You can then use your serial number to check your service and support options or to find tech specs for your model.
You can also use your computer's model identifier to get more information. In the About This Mac window, click System Report. In the System Information window that opens, find Model Identifier in the Hardware Overview section. Then use the identifier to locate your Mac mini below.
On the surface of your Mac mini
Shut down your Mac mini, unplug all cords and connectors, and turn it over. On Mac mini models from 2010 and later, the serial number appears on the underside of the computer, near the regulatory markings.
On Mac mini models made before 2010, the serial number appears on a label on the edge of the computer's underside, between bar codes.
On the original product packaging or receipt
If you still have the original packaging for your Mac mini, you can find the serial number on a barcode label on the box.
The packaging also lists the Apple part number—for example, MGEM2xx/A. Match that number to one in the list below to find your Mac mini model.
In Apple part numbers, the "xx" before the slash are variables that differ by country or region.
The serial number, model number, and configuration details of your Mac mini might also appear on its receipt or invoice.
