Shipping your iPhone 18 Pro Max to Apple

Learn how to ship your iPhone 18 Pro Max to Apple.

Before you begin

iPhone 18 Pro Max offers a huge increase in battery life, in part due to increasing the battery capacity to over 20 watt-hours (Wh). Devices with a single-cell battery over 20 Wh have additional shipping requirements in most countries and regions.

Make sure that your iPhone and packaging meet the criteria below before packing and dropping off your iPhone at a delivery service.

Confirm that your iPhone meets these criteria before shipping

Before packing and shipping your iPhone, it must meet these criteria:

  • The battery is the original Apple battery and hasn't been tampered with or replaced with a nongenuine battery.

  • There is no sign of a hazard, like gas or an unusual smell.

  • There is no physical damage to the battery that you can see, such as, but not limited to, a separated enclosure because of an expanded battery or visible wires or circuits.

If your iPhone screen is cracked, you can still ship it—but only if the crack doesn't expose the device’s interior, the device isn't bent or dented, and it meets all other listed criteria.

If your iPhone doesn't meet these criteria, don’t ship your iPhone. Instead, contact Apple Support, or visit an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

If you received a shipping kit from Apple

Most customers don’t need a shipping kit from Apple, and should follow the instructions that Apple provided to you.

If you’ve already contacted Apple and they have sent you a shipping kit, confirm that the shipping kit and labels are ready for shipment.

Confirm that the shipping kit and labels are ready for shipment

Use the shipping kit that Apple provided. Make sure that the shipping kit and labels meet these criteria:

  • If the packaging includes papers in a clear pouch, all of those papers must remain in the pouch.

  • The shipping kit (the inner box with the labels) must not have moisture damage or other damage, such as crushed sides or holes.

  • Any shipping labels must not be folded, ripped, or smudged, and the labels must be clearly visible without overlap on the box.

  • All labels must face outward, be fully legible, and must not be cut off or covered by tape.

If the shipping kit doesn't meet all of these criteria, you cannot ship your iPhone in that packaging. Request a new shipping kit from Apple.

Pack your iPhone 18 Pro Max in the shipping kit that Apple Provided

Recycle the outer box that the Apple-provided shipping kit came in. Don’t include it with your shipment to Apple.

Let your iPhone battery discharge to 25 percent or less, then turn off your iPhone. Pack your iPhone:

  1. Place your iPhone display-up in the product box that came in the shipping kit. Don’t include anything except your iPhone 18 Pro Max in the box.

  2. Place the product box back in the insert in the shipping kit.

  3. Close all box flaps securely. Make sure that the box lid sits flush and there's no damage to the labels, adhesive, or structure. The preapplied labels shouldn’t overlap and should be clearly visible.

  4. If the shipping kit has an attached pouch, don’t remove any documents from that pouch.

  5. Use the provided adhesive tape to seal the box, ensuring that the tape doesn’t overlap with any of the labels on the top of the box. Use all three pieces of tape to seal the bottom flap. Don't use any other tape.

  6. Hand over your shipping kit using the delivery service designated for your country—for example by drop-off, online pickup booking, or courier-arranged collection.
