If you get an alert from NTRA in Egypt that your IMEI isn't registered
When you see this message, learn what to do.
If you buy a device or receive a service part replacement outside of Egypt
If you start using your iPhone on a mobile network in Egypt, you might get an alert from the NTRA that your IMEI isn't registered. NTRA is the telecommunication regulations authority in Egypt.
To register your IMEI, download the Egyptian Customs Authority Telephony app from App Store. There is a 90-day grace period from the activation date of the Egyptian SIM card on the network. If you do not register your iPhone within 90 days, the status bar on your iPhone will show No Service. This applies to Egyptian SIM cards only and not to iPhone models using roaming.
If you buy an iPhone or receive a replacement device in Egypt through an Apple-authorized channel
Apple will register the IMEI of your iPhone on your behalf.
If you buy an iPhone from an authorized seller, the tax will be prepaid by the VAT. The receipt will say that the tax is paid.
If you buy an iPhone within Egypt, make sure that you receive an e-invoice to protect your consumer rights.
