Eject CDs and DVDs from your Mac
You can usually eject a CD or DVD from the desktop or from a Finder window.
Eject a CD or DVD from an optical drive
To eject a disc from an external optical drive, do any of the following:
- Eject a disc from the desktop: Select the disc you want to eject, then choose File > Eject. 
- Eject a disc from an optical drive: Press the Eject key  . .
- Eject a disc from a Finder window: Click the Finder icon  in the Dock to open a Finder window, then in the Finder sidebar, click in the Dock to open a Finder window, then in the Finder sidebar, click next to the disc’s name. next to the disc’s name.
If a CD or DVD won’t eject from an optical drive
Try any of the following:
- If an app is using the CD or DVD: Quit the app, then try to eject the disc again. 
- If you can’t quit the app that’s using the CD or DVD: Close the file that is on the disc you want to eject, then try to eject it again. 
- If another user is using the CD or DVD: Log out the users who are using the disc, then try to eject it again. 
- If you can’t log out a user: Restart your Mac, then try to eject the disc again. 
- If you can restart your computer to eject the disc: Choose Apple menu  
Display the Eject menu in the menu bar
You can display the Eject menu in the menu bar to quickly eject disks from connected optical drives.
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu   in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)- Note: If you don’t have an optical drive connected to your Mac, CDs & DVDs settings aren’t available. 
- Turn on Show eject in menu bar.
