Before you begin an immersive experience

Learn how to prepare a safe environment before you start an immersive experience with your Apple Vision Pro.

Prepare your environment

Make sure that your space is clear of obstacles and hazards, that you've minimized the risks of falls or collisions, and that you're aware of people, pets, and children in your space while you use Apple Vision Pro.

Detect nearby obstacles while immersed

Apple Vision Pro may not detect all objects in your space, like glass, mirrors, and stairways, and can only detect objects at eye level. To increase the likelihood that objects in your surroundings are detected:

  • Use Apple Vision Pro in a well-lit environment.

  • Do not run or make sudden movements while using Apple Vision Pro.

  • Avoid using Apple Vision Pro around moving objects, like fans.

Apple Vision Pro has features that help you stay aware of your surroundings during fully immersive and partially immersive experiences. These features are always on and cannot be adjusted.

Fully immersive experiences

To help you be aware of your surroundings, Apple Vision Pro automatically sets a boundary for fully immersive experiences. As you approach the boundary, Apple Vision Pro will gradually reveal your surroundings.

If you move completely outside the boundary, Apple Vision Pro reveals your space completely. If you return to the original position or recenter your view, the experience returns to the previous immersion level.

Partially immersive experiences

In partially immersive experiences, Apple Vision Pro gradually reveals your surroundings while you're moving. You can continue to interact with the experience while this occurs. The experience returns to its original immersion level when you stop moving.

Always stay aware of your surroundings while moving in a partially immersive experience, as objects in your environment may be blocked by the experience.

If you’re approaching an object or moving too quickly — faster than a brisk walk — Apple Vision Pro automatically clears your view to fully reveal your space.
