If you get an alert that says 'Mismatched AirPods' or 'AirPods Mismatch'
You might get an alert that says "Mismatched AirPods" or "AirPods Mismatch" if the AirPods in the charging case are different generations or belong to someone else, or if “AirPods Mismatch” appears in Find My.
If the AirPods in the charging case are different generations
Identify your AirPods to determine which AirPods models belong in this charging case.
Use the Find My app to locate your missing AirPods and play a sound to help you identify which AirPod is mismatched.
If the AirPods in the charging case belong to someone else
If your AirPods are mixed up with someone else's AirPods, you'll both get an alert that says "AirPods Mismatch." Use the Find My app to locate your missing AirPods and play a sound to help you identify which AirPod is mismatched.
If you get this alert after you receive a replacement AirPod or charging case, set up your replacement AirPods or charging case.
If “AirPods Mismatch” appears in Find My
You might get an "AirPods Mismatch" alert if you're trying to pair AirPods that are already paired to a different Apple Account. AirPods can be associated with one Apple Account for use with Find My.
If you want to use AirPods that someone else has used or AirPods that you have used with a different Apple Account, they need to first remove the AirPods from the other Apple Account.
If you get this alert after you've removed the AirPods from the other Apple Account, set up your replacement AirPods or charging case.
Replace your missing AirPod
If you can't find your AirPod, you can get a replacement AirPod from Apple Support.
