Learn how to reduce delay when you use your iPhone as a microphone with Apple Music Sing on your Apple TV.

Change the settings on your television to reduce delay

With Apple Music Sing on your Apple TV, you can use your iPhone as a microphone. If you're having trouble with delay, you might need to adjust your television settings.

If you need help locating these settings, check with the manufacturer of your television.

Turn on Game Mode in either video or audio settings on your TV

Some televisions might have a Game Mode or Game Optimizer in your audio or video settings. To help reduce delay, turn this setting on in one or both places.

Turn Dolby Atmos off

Apple Music will automatically turn Dolby Atmos off when you use Apple Music Sing, but you might need to also turn it off on your television. When you turn Dolby Atmos off on your television, you might need to select a new audio format. Select PCM, stereo, pass‑through, or bitstream.

Change your setup and settings

Your television might have additional settings that need to be changed.

  • If it has audio/visual sync settings or features, set them to AV Sync Bypass.

  • If it has different audio processing options and modes, you might need to turn them off or set them to Game Mode to reduce delay.

  • If your setup has a soundbar or receiver, connect the HDMI cable from the Apple TV directly to the soundbar or receiver instead of your television.

After changing your settings and setup, power cycle your television.
