Delete a wallpaper on your iPhone

On your iPhone with iOS 16 or later, open the wallpaper gallery from your Lock Screen to delete a wallpaper option.

Delete a wallpaper on your iPhone with iOS 16 or later

  1. On your iPhone with iOS 16 or later, press the side button to go to the Lock Screen.

  2. Touch and hold your Lock Screen, then use your Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to open the wallpaper gallery.

  3. Swipe up on the wallpaper that you want to delete.

  4. Tap the trash icon.

  5. Tap Delete This Wallpaper.

In iOS 15 and earlier, you can set a new wallpaper in Settings > Wallpaper. To delete an image that you set as a wallpaper in iOS 15 and earlier, go to the Photos app and delete the image.
