Archived - How to determine if you have an Apple iPod + HP (Hewlett-Packard iPod)

Learn how to determine if you have an Apple iPod + HP sold by Hewlett-Packard (HP). HP began selling a version of iPod in September, 2004. HP began selling a version of the iPod mini (Apple iPod mini + HP) in June 2005.

Note: HP, not Apple, provides support and service for Hewlett-Packard iPods.

You have an Apple iPod + HP if:

  • it has an HP logo on the back.

  • the Serial Number is only 10 characters long. See "iPod: How to find the serial number" if you're not sure how to find the serial number.
  • the Model Number in the About screen is one of the following:

PE435A MP102 Apple iPod from HP Music Player 20 GB
PE436A MP103 Apple iPod from HP Music Player 40 GB
PS492AA MP7001 Apple iPod from HP Color Music Player 30 GB
PS493AA MP7002 Apple iPod from HP Color Music Player 60 GB
PW753AA MP5001 Apple iPod mini from HP Music Player 4 GB
PX762AA MP5002 Apple iPod mini from HP Music Player 6 GB
n/a MP3001 Apple iPod Shuffle from HP Music Player 512 MB
n/a MP3002 Apple iPod Shuffle from HP Music Player 1 GB
