Xsan: Volumes may not mount at startup if no user logs in

Products Affected

Xsan

Symptoms

Under some circumstances, Xsan volumes configured to mount automatically at startup may not mount until a user has logged in.  Volumes mount correctly once a user logs in to the affected client.

Resolution

As a workaround, you can disable external user accounts on internal volumes. Execute this Terminal command on the client:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow XAcctSearchInternalVolumes -bool false
