Products Affected

iCloud

Symptoms

Some users may experience issues with iCloud operation in the Windows operating system. These issues can manifest in many ways, but a few examples are as follows:

  • Inability to sign in to your iCloud account in the iCloud Control Panel with proper credentials.
  • Inability to launch the iCloud Control Panel.
  • iCloud setup issues in iCloud Control Panel.
  • Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks not pushing between iCloud and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Bookmarks not pushing between iCloud and Safari or Internet Explorer.
  • Photo Stream upload and download issues.

One cause for these issues is security software, which prevents iCloud executables from running properly. For iCloud to work properly, your security software needs to allow these files to execute.

Resolution

Ensure your security software allows the following executable files:

  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloud.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloudServices.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\AppleOutlookDAVConfig.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\BookmarkDAV_client.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\ApplePhotoStreams.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\APSDaemon.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\WebKit2WebProcess.exe

You should add all of the above files as exceptions in your security software configuration for iCloud to function properly. If you need assistance configuring your security software, refer to your specific software's documentation.
