Apple Thunderbolt Display: Image on display intermittently goes dark, USB devices not available after waking from sleep

Symptoms

In rare instances you may notice the image on your Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch) disappears or goes dark intermittently during normal use. Some USB devices may not available after waking your computer from sleep.

Resolution

Make sure all available software and firmware updates are installed and applied to your display. 

  1. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu ().
  2. Install all available updates.
  3. Re run Software Update again to make sure all updates have been applied.
