iMovie 9.0.4, QuickTime Player: Some movies recorded from a built-in camera may play out of sync

Symptoms

When imported into iMovie 9.0.4, some movies recorded using QuickTime Player and a built-in FaceTime, FaceTime HD, or iSight camera may playback with the audio and video out of sync.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

  1. Import the movie into iMovie 9.0.4.
  2. Optimize the selected video clip by choosing File > Optimize Video.

Alternately, you can also record video directly into iMovie by choosing File > Import From Camera.
