Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, Compressor 4: "Send To" menu command from Final Cut Studio (2009) opens incorrect version of target app

Symptoms

Choosing File > Send To > Motion Project in Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 may cause Motion 5 to open.

Resolution

To address this, open Motion 4 before performing a Send To operation. If you've already attempted to use the Send To operation and Motion 5 opened, quit Motion 5, open Motion 4.0.3, revert the Motion project that was created in Final Cut Pro back to the original clips by using Undo, and repeat the Send To command; it will now correctly be sent to Motion 4.0.3. 

Alternatively, you can navigate to the Motion file on disk that you saved when using the Send To Command. Drag this file onto Motion 4.0.3 or open it via Motion's Open dialog.

Additional Information

If this also occurs with File > Send To > Compressor within Final Cut Pro, or File > Send To > Final Cut Pro from within Color, the same solution of opening the correct application to receive the send applies.
