Archived - iMovie '08 and later: Sony AVCHD 2011-model video cameras require Mac OS X v10.6.7

Symptoms

The AVCHD recording modes in Sony-model digital still cameras and camcorders have changed in 2011 from previous models. New Sony cameras require Mac OS X v10.6.7 or later to import AVCHD video properly.

Sony devices known to use AVCHD format include:

Resolution

Download and install Mac OS X v10.6.7.  Or, to check for software updates, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
