Mac Pro (Early 2008): ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT video card with distorted video or no video

If your Mac Pro experiences distorted video or no video issues and has an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT card in it, you will need to bring your computer's serial number and the graphics card into an Apple Authorized Service Provider or an Apple Retail Store location for verification and to exchange the affected graphics card for a replacement. 

Note: If your Mac Pro has an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT card but is not exhibiting any signs of distorted video or no video, no actions are needed.

Identifying the correct video card:

• To remove the graphics card, follow the Graphics Card Replacement Instructions.
• Locate the serial number label on the back of the card at the opposite end of the DVI connectors.
• Verify that the last four digits of the video card contain the following (* denotes any character):
  YPU(*), YPV(*), 1M4(*), 1M5(*), 29H(*), or 29G(*)
• If the last four digits of the video card do not match any of the above patterns, then the card is not eligible for the replacement program.

When you return the card to Apple, use an anti-static bag, a cardboard box, and proper packing material for transport.

If you believe you have paid for repair or replacement because of this issue, contact Apple regarding a refund.

This program covers affected ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT video cards three years from the original date of purchase or until July 31, 2011, whichever provides longer coverage. Apple will continue to evaluate the repair data and will provide further repair extensions if needed.

This worldwide Apple program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the Mac Pro.
