Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed

Symptoms
If you have recently installed Final Cut Express 4, Aperture 3.x may unexpectedly quit after you open it.
This issue can occur after you install Final Cut Express 4.x on a Mac that has Aperture 3.x installed. It can also occur if you purchased Aperture from the Mac App Store and installed Final Cut Express 4.x on Mac OS v10.6.6 or later.
Resolution
If Aperture was already installed on your computer or if you installed Aperture from a DVD or a Trial Download .dmg:
- Reinstall Aperture using your Aperture Install DVD or Aperture Trial Download .dmg.
- From the Apple () menu, choose Software Update to update Aperture to the latest version.
If you purchased Aperture from the Mac App Store and have Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard:
- Download the Update Combo to Mac OS X v10.6.8.
- Install the update following the onscreen instructions.
If you purchased Aperture from the Mac App Store and are using a MacBook Pro (Early 2011) running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard:
- Navigate to /Library/Frameworks and delete the file "PluginManager.framework".
- Use the media that came with your computer to install Mac OS X v10.6.6.
- From the Apple () menu, choose Software Update to check for any available updates.
If you purchased Aperture from the Mac App Store and are running OS X Lion:
- Download the Update Combo for Mac OS X 10.7.2 or later from the Support Downloads page.
- Install the update following the onscreen instructions.
If you purchased Aperture from the Mac App Store and upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion:
- Open the App Store and click Purchases at the top of the window.
- Sign in to your account if prompted.
- Click the Download button for OS X Mountain Lion in the Purchases list.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion.
If you purchased Aperture from the Mac App Store and your computer came with OS X Mountain Lion pre-installed:
- See OS X: About OS X Recovery for information about how to reinstall OS X on your computer.
Note: After you reinstall OS X Mountain Lion, Software Update may continue to offer PlugIn Manager 1.7.3. Do not install this update. Right-click on the PlugIn Manager 1.7.3 update in the Updates window of the Mac App Store. Choose Hide from the contextual menu in order to prevent the update from appearing again when you check for updates.
