Symptoms
iTunes 10 for Mac may be unable to open or may quit unexpectedly.
Resolution
This issue may occur if you have more than one copy of a QuickTime component found in different folder locations such as in:
- /Library/Components/
- /Library/QuickTime
- ~/Library/Components
- ~/Library/QuickTime
Note: The "~" represents your Home folder.
System-wide locations:
User-specific locations:
To resolve this issue, delete the extra copy of the component file in the user-specific folder and not from the system-wide folder.
Some examples of QuickTime component files found to cause iTunes for Mac to quit unexpectedly are:
- /Library/QuickTime/DesktopVideoOut.component
- ~/Library/QuickTime/DesktopVideoOut.component
- /Library/QuickTime/Sonix SN9C201 WebCam.component
- ~/Library/QuickTime/Sonix SN9C201 WebCam.component
or
Delete the duplicated component file from the user-specific QuickTime folder (~/Library/QuickTime/...)
