iOS devices, MobileMe: Syncing does not work as expected with Microsoft Office 2010 using Click-to-Run

Symptoms

MobileMe and iTunes will not sync with Microsoft Outlook 2010 if you are using Click-to-Run. Outlook will not appear as a selectable sync option if you use Click-to-Run in order to run Microsoft Office 2010.

Resolution

To sync with Microsoft Outlook 2010, you need the full version of Microsoft Office 2010. MobileMe and iTunes require a full version of Microsoft Office 2010 be installed locally on the hard drive of the computer you use to sync.
