Mac OS X Server v10.5, 10.6: Caching may delay the effect of group membership changes
Products Affected
Mac OS X Server 10.5, Mac OS X Server 10.6
Symptoms
Modern operating systems, including Mac OS X Server, cache group membership information to decrease the amount of time needed for group membership lookups; this information is usually static and does not change often.
Caching may cause a short delay in changing service or share availability for user accounts whose group memberships are changed.
Resolution
You can reset this cache by either restarting the server, or executing the following command in Terminal:
sudo dsmemberutil flushcache
