Boot Camp: 2727 error or restart pending message when upgrading Boot Camp 2.2 to 3.0

Symptoms

Windows may display a 2727 installer error or restart pending message when you upgrade from Boot Camp 2.2 on a Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) to Boot Camp 3.0 on a Mac running Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

Resolution

If you receive a 2727 installer error:

  1. Click OK to advance the the next screen. 
  2. Another message will appear stating that a restart is pending.  Click OK.

Remove or Uninstall Boot Camp Services using the following steps:

  1. From the Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs (XP) or Programs (Vista or Windows 7).  
  2. Locate Boot Camp Services in the list.  Single-click on it to select it. 
  3. Click Remove (XP) or Uninstall (Vista or Windows 7). 
  4. When asked if you are sure you want to remove or uninstall, click Yes. 
  5. Click on the X to close the window.


Reinstall the Boot Camp 3.0 drivers using the following steps:

  1. Restart Windows.
  2. Insert the Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Install DVD.  
  3. Double-click on Run setup.exe.
  4. Click on Boot Camp Drivers.
  5. If prompted to allow changes, click Yes.
