Aperture 3: "Request to the server failed" alert when publishing identical filenames to MobileMe

Symptoms

Publishing to a MobileMe Gallery album sometimes does not complete and shows the alert: "An error occurred while publishing the album 'your_album_name.' Request to the server failed."

Resolution

This occurs if you publish images or videos with identical names to the same MobileMe Gallery album. Make sure that each file has a unique name. For example, if you try to publish an image and a video both named "My Vacation" to the same album, the alert will occur. To resolve this issue with an existing album:

  1. Rename one of the files.
  2. Republish it to a new MobileMe Gallery album.
  3. Delete the old album.
