Motion 4: May be unable to open projects

Symptoms

In some cases, after installing Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and Final Cut Studio (2009), Motion 4 projects can be created and saved, but those projects are unable to be opened. Motion projects from any previous version also will not open.

The following alert will appear: "The document "filename" could not be opened."

 

Resolution

To address this issue, be sure Motion is not running. Then, open Terminal (located in /Applications/Utilities), and run the following command:

    sudo touch /Applications/Motion.app

Note: This command can only be run in a user account with administrative access.
